Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri is a famous Indian actress who has gained notoriety for her roles in Hum Aapke hain Koun and Beta Saajan. In the late 80s, she began her acting career and was a hit with her role of Tezaab, in which she starred alongside famous actor Anil Kapooor. In the following film, she starred in the film Dil with whom she shared the screen alongside Aamir Khan. In Mumbai the city she was born in a household of middle-class parents. At a very young age, she started to dance. At the age of 16 she started acting, and was a victim for a few years since the majority of her films at first were unsuccessful. Her breakthrough came when she finally had success which led her to become one of the most prominent actors within the Indian film industry. Following her marriage her husband died, she took time out from acting, prior to returning. Dixit played an important role as a lead actress in Gulaab Gang, a film focused on women's struggles in India. Dixit was nominated 15 times at the Filmfare Awards. She won eight of the awards. Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award given to civilians in India was awarded to her. Her charitable work is known to the world.
